Steve Jobs’ biography is set for a Monday release. Walter Isaacson was contracted to write the book years ago and conducted over forty interviews with the Apple founder. A couple of significant quotes from the work surfaced today thanks to the Associated Press.
In 2010, Jobs complained about Google’s Android and partnership with HTC for the Nexus One. He felt Android was the equivalent of “grand theft,” as Apple sued HTC over iOS-related patents. The book reportedly quotes Jobs:
“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”Apparently, Google’s Eric Schmidt entered into negotiations with Jobs regarding the lawsuit. Jobs rejected all offers outright, explaining that he only wanted Google to stop using ideas from iOS in Android.
The book reveals Jobs’ intensely protective attitude regarding Apple’s iOS. It’s expected to reveal much about this relatively secretive man in terms of both his personal and business lives.
