Android 4.0 Source Code Release “Soon”

Good news for external Android developers. Dan Morrill, Android’s Open Source and Compatibility Tech Lead, just announced that source code for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is coming “soon.” In a blog post addressing the recent Kernel.org downtime, Morrill wrote, “We plan to release the source for the recently-announced Ice Cream Sandwich soon, once it’s available on devices.”

That means we’re potentially going to see Ice Cream Sandwich source code within the next month or so– around November. We know the Galaxy Nexus is set for arrival sometime next month. Let’s just hope Morrill and El Goog keep to their word.
